Matthew - from an optimal health point of view I'd say red meat once a week, white meat once a week, fish three times a week and eggs x 2, three times a week, the rest being vegetarian protein.
In the days of Banting no-one knew about essential omegas or (soluble)fibre which is what really speeds up gut transit, thus releiving constipation, which is a driver for colon cancer. The best foods for soluble fibres are pulses - beans and peas, oat products. There's some in vegetables but not enough. It is not necessary to exclude these foods to lose weight. It's time the Banting approach updated. Short-term, to kick start weight loss, may not be so bad, but long-term it's bad news. Also, if you want to go that way try fish and veg only, rather than meat and dairy.

What to think about daily calorie intake and GL Patrick.
What is the daily calorie intake for GL meals.
Where you you explain how much more GL is needed to eat according to height and exercise. ( I have only purchased the cookbook not the full book)
I have been accused of calorie restriction when they see te pasta and rice portion size of my meal.

I am now in the maintenance stage and the amount of pasta or rice with my meal is still not what I am used to eating. I am happy that you can eat unlimited amounts of certain vegetables with it, but I still feel hungry for more of the pasta/rice

It's about 30 pages in, in the section on 'Daily GL for maintenance' then 'For Exercise Enthusiasts'. If you eat the 'maintenance' size portion, adjusted if need be by the exercise equation, you shouldn't be hungry or crave carbs.

Thats what I have done but I still feel hungry on the portion of carbs required.
Whats the highest calorie intake we can do and still keep it low GL
