Yesterday’s ruling by the General Medical Council against Dr Andrew Wakefield and two leading Professors of Gastroenterology, Professor John Walker-Smith and Professor Simon Murch and, is a triumph for the pro-vaccine lobby, but a tragedy for scientific truth and the protection of children.

Despite claims of increased survival the cancer war is clearly being lost. Lifetime risk for cancer has risen by 49% in 30 years and is currently 1 in 3, expected to be 1 in 2 by 2020. Breast cancer is up 80% and prostate cancer is up by 100%. As such cancer will soon become the number 1 killer of people under age 50. Currently, cancer kills 1 in 4 people.

Reported in the Guardian today are the results of an eight week crash diet on diabetes (type 2). Seven out of eleven volunteers were free from diabetes three months later.

Europe’s biggest ever diet trial, published today, involving 722 families, costing 14.5 million euros, set out to discover the winning formula for weight loss by comparing five different diets, including a low glycemic load (GL) diet. One diet, the low GL diet, was way ahead of the rest.
